Ewald Frank is pastor of the Free People’s Mission in Germany and one of the most prominent message ministers in Europe. Frank played an important role in spreading the message into the Soviet Union during the cold war, making regular trips behind the Iron Curtain to spread the gospel.
Many churches broke fellowship with Frank in the 1980s when he was involved in immorality which led to the break up of his family. He refused to step down from the ministry despite the immorality.
In the late 1990s when Paul Schaefer, who was living in Chile, was discovered to be sexually abusing children in his church and was jailed, Frank took in a protected German members of Schaefer’s Chilean church. Among the men he accepted was Hartmut Hopp who was implicated in covering up or participating in Schaefer’s crimes.1
